^25 (A)Adam ^[a]had relations with his wife again; and she gave birth to a son, and named him ^[b]Seth, for, she said, “God ^[c]has appointed me another ^[d]child in place of Abel, ^(B)because Cain killed him.” ²⁶ To Seth also ^(C)a son was born; and he named him Enosh. Then people began ^(D)to call ^[e]upon the name of the Lord.

The Corruption of Mankind

6 Now it came about, when mankind began to multiply on the face of the land, and daughters were born to them, ² that the sons of God saw that the daughters of mankind were ^[a]beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose. ³ Then the Lord said, “^(A)My Spirit will not ^[b]remain with man forever, ^[c](B)because he is also flesh; ^[d]nevertheless his days shall be 120 years.” ⁴ The ^[e](C)Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of mankind, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.

²⁶ He also said,

Abram Journeys to Egypt

12 Now ^(A)the Lord said to Abram,

¹⁹ But God said, “No, but your wife Sarah will bear you ^(A)a son, and you shall name him ^[a]Isaac; and ^(B)I will establish My covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his ^[b]descendants after him.

¹² But God said to Abraham, “^[a]Do not be distressed because of the boy and your slave woman; whatever Sarah tells you, listen to her, for ^(A)through Isaac ^[b]your descendants shall be named.

²³ And the Lord said to her,

¹³ Then behold, ^(A)the Lord was standing ^[a]above it and said, “I am the Lord, ^(B)the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give ^(C)to you and to ^(D)your ^[b]descendants. ¹⁴ Your ^[c]descendants will also be like ^(E)the dust of the earth, and you will ^[d]spread out ^(F)to the west and to the east, and to the north and to the south; and ^(G)in you and in your ^[e]descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
